A Piece of the Masterpiece…

You will remember several years ago a book, The Prayer of Jabez, was very popular among Christians.  You might have read this book and been inspired or encouraged through it.  Why was it so popular and inspirational?  I believe the answer to that is in the scope and magnitude of its implications.

We all want to be used by God.  We aspire to have more of an impact and more of a part to play in the scheme of things.  Of course there are potential hazards of this kind of thinking, ie pride, but in general I believe it is healthy to want God to use you to the fullest of your potential.  So why doesn’t He?

The answer, I believe, is that He is, but we have a small mindset and are unable to see what an enormous impact we already have.  A little light can illuminate the darkest room and give more hope than one million candles burning in broad daylight.  You matter to God, His plan, and His kingdom!

The same is true of churches.  Often we see our churches as small or insignificant.  What a tragedy to limit our potential as individuals or a family of faith based on our perceived ability or worth!  In the hands of a Master, the finest brush is used to make the most minute details.  These details are what make a true masterpiece come alive.  Look at your vast potential in the hands of the Master!  You are insignificant if you are trying to grow your name, but in His hands He will use you in unimaginable ways to bring glory to Himself.

You are not an insignificant Christian, but a Child and Ambassador of the King of Kings!  You are not a member of a small church, but a tool in the hands of the Master while He works on His masterpiece!  Praise God that He can and is using us for His glory!

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,  not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

–Ephesians 2:8-10–
