About Me

About Me

My name is Jeremy Byrd.  I was blessed to marry my high school sweetheart, Stefanie.  We have three wonderful children, Anna Claire, Liam, and Isla Scarlett.  As a husband and father, my first priority is to love and serve them.

After high school, I earned a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in History and Psychology.  I have studied at the graduate level at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, Temple Baptist Seminary, and Union University.  Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate through Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.

I enjoy the outdoors, especially fly fishing and hunting.  While never a student, I love the UT Volunteers!  Stefanie and I like to travel to any destination that includes an ocean.  Artistic at heart, I like to develop and design all of the logos and graphics that I can for my ministry and my friends.

I love books and am a Bible junky.  I especially appreciate the workmanship of SchuylerR.L. Allan and Cambridge Bibles.  I also enjoy reading in general on a variety of topics including theology, history, spiritual formation, ministry, and fiction.

About My Faith

I am a sinner saved by the extravagant grace of God!  I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at a young age and have sought to walk with Him since.  I have stumbled along the way, but He has been merciful and gracious to not only forgive me, but to walk with me and call me into His service.  If you are wondering about my specific beliefs, I have preached in various denominations, ministered in a non-denominational church as well as many SBC churches, but I worship and serve within the Southern Baptist Convention by conviction and affirm the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message.  That said, I look forward to worship in Heaven alongside brothers and sisters of all eras, cultures, and denominations who have trusted in Christ as their Savior!

About My Ministry

I was called to preach and began in 1997.  At first, while I worked on my undergraduate degree, I preached in a variety of churches in the community.  I was called to my first pastorate in 2002.  In 2003, I began seminary and have been serving as a pastor since 2005.  In my serving the local church, God provides me with opportunities to preach and teach His Word in order to disciple individuals, couples, and small groups.

I feel that it is vital to develop strong  individuals and families through biblical study.  My call is to proclaim Christ and help others learn to walk with Him through personal spiritual development and biblical study.

I am blessed to serve alongside some  great men and women as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Dunlap, Tennessee.

About This Blog

This blog is designed to grow individuals and families spiritually.  It is a sounding-board for issues that we face in our society.  A society that continues to devalue God’s plan for His children.  The foundational belief of this blog is that spiritually healthy individuals live spiritually healthy lives and create spiritually healthy relationships.  It is my plan to use this blog as one tool to help make that happen.
